PUMA, the world's leading sports brand, today launched the Manchester City FC home kit for the 2022-23 season. Inspired by the legendary team that won four top-flight titles from 1967 to 1971 and the team's leader at the time, Colin Bell, the New Jersey is meant to pay tribute to that great era and the stars who played it.
Between 1967 and 1971, no other team could match Manchester City's style and swagger. The flowing passing and running style, the full-court pressing style of attacking football, put City ahead of The Times. City won the 1967-68 English top Flight, the 1968-69 FA Cup, the 1969-70 European Cup Winners' Cup and the League Cup. For half a century, this glorious period has inspired every generation of City players to push the envelope at home and in Europe.
There have been countless legends in the history of Manchester City Football Club, and Colin Bell is undoubtedly one of the brightest and most legendary. He played for the club as a midfielder for a total of 13 years between 1966 and 1979. His incredible athleticism and sheer willpower have always made him a favourite among City fans. In 1967-68, it was he who led the team back to the top of the English league after 31 years. As one of Manchester City's all-time greats, Colin Bell epitomises the club's unique ethos.
The new Manchester City home kit for the 2022-23 season recreates the club's classic kit design from Colin Bell's time as a tribute to one of City's greatest ICONS and a legendary team. The main colour of the shirt remains sky blue, with the club emblem placed in the middle of the chest, the collar and cuffs decorated with the iconic Burgundy stripe, and the "The King" crown logo on the inside of the neckline in tribute to "King Corin".
"The new home kit for the 2022-23 season is a tribute to Manchester City's historic home kit design. We have created and incorporated a modern design style on top of the shirts worn by club legends between 1967 and 1971, "said Marco Mueller, senior director of PUMA's team sports line." Burgundy, a colour often used in the club's home kit, has been applied to the trim. The new home shirt is a tribute to the history of Manchester City as a whole and in every detail of the design, as well as to the unique style of play and the glory of the club today."

The new Manchester City home kit for the 2022-23 season will contain two versions. PUMA's jerseys will feature ULTRAWEAVE, Puma's lightest performance jersey fabric ever, and dryCELL sweats technology, which allows for significant weight loss through a four-sided elastic fabric that adds spandex to the yarn to make it elastic in both directions. To help players and teams become faster and more dynamic on the field for better athletic performance. The fan version will feature 100% recycled polyester fabric paired with classic dryCELL sweat technology.
